Q. Why is BA setting off my virus scanner?
|
|
A. The Virus scanners are picking up on the software used to compile the Exe or .Dll. Someone used it to pack a Trojan , So Macaffe and others chalk it up as a Generic Trojan find and quarantine it.
When Macaffe(or others) removes the file, please make sure it is submitted to them for "deep" scanning or whatever they call their process.
We had issues last year with AVG and Trendmicro and this was cleared up by this process.
You can exclude the BA folder from being scanned, but I do recommend you submit the file to your AV provider so they can remove it from their future.def files

Q. What exactly is the correct process to install Bad Apple?
|
|
A. Please keep in mind, you do not use your PB GUID/SteamID at anytime during the Bad Apple activation process.
1. To start the process, you need to get your unique PIN # from your TGL "My Account" page, which is found at the top left navigational area of the TGL website.
2. Create an account on the Bad Apple website using your TGL account name and TGL account PIN #.
3. This will let you download the Bad Apple application.
4. Create a username, it does not have to be your TGL account name, but it's recommended.
5. This will allow you to download the Bad Apple application.
6. Install Bad Apple onto your computer.
7. Enter the username you created into the Bad Apple client. Use the exact username you just created on the Bad Apple website.
8. This generates a Bad Apple GUID. You take this Bad Apple GUID and go back to the Bad Apple website. It's easiest to just leave both the Bad Apple application and the Bad Apple website open, and then copy/paste between them.
9. The website will generate an activation key.
10. Type this activation key into the Bad Apple application window.
11. Bad Apple should now activate.

Q. My client software won't activate? The activation button is grayed out.
|
|
A. Be sure you put your bad apple username in the client EXACTLY the same as you created it for your account.
If your activation button is grayed out, you likely have something typed incorrectly. Please open the Web site and the Bad Apple application at the same time, and take a screenshot so we can see both windows at the same time.
Make sure your GUID on the site matches the GUID on the application, Same thing with the activation line, the site must match the application.

Q. Bares32.dll is setting of my Virus scanner, What did you infect my computer with? !!!
|
|
A. Recent versions of Grisofts AVG free 8.0 and Kasperties AV are using a new Heuristic detection method. It is falsly blocking the application. We are in the process of contacting both companies to see what can be done to avoid the issue.
A work around would be to just exclude the Bad Apple install path from future scans.

Q. Will I get any support if I submit a ticket like "It won't work, yada, yada, yada..."?
|
|
A. Probably not! If you are eager for support within a timely fashion, then there are things we need to know in order to expedite the process.
- What is your operating system (including what type ie: x64 x32 amd64)?
- In detail, what EXACTLY is the problem you're experiencing?
- Do you have any non-standard hardware, external drives, USB devices?
- When does the error occur (what did you do immediately before the error was displayed)?
Along with any other details you think MIGHT help us determine if your problem is related to your PC or our software.
UPDATE: Any rude, racist, derogatory or "One-Liner" tickets will be deleted and IGNORED! We will not waste our time if you are not willing to take time to submit a proper report. UPDATE #2: A ticket involving the client software WILL BE DELETED if it does not contain AT LEAST your operating system info, and preferably your hardware info as well. I apologize for the harshness of this action, however it is to allow us to provide better help to individuals who are willing to help us, help them.

Q. When I run the client software I receive the following error: "Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument" or "Language Error". What should I do?
|
|
A. We have narrowed this down to being an incompatibility with certain language settings in windows.
UPDATE: In the Windows XP Regional and Language Options, you should set "Standards and Formats" on the first tab, and "Language for non-Unicode programs" on the third tab, the latter requires a reboot (it is similar on previous Window's Operating Systems). Please make sure those settings are on western English United States.

Q. Example of a proper support ticket.
|
|
A. Hello,
Please help, my activation button is grayed out.
My current BA GUID is xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx, but the website shows it as xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx.
I recently formated my computer/changed processor/network card/ etc...(please be specific)
The above scenario requires a GUID reset on the website; once that is done you can enter your new GUID and get your new activation code.
